Months ago, during a trip to my homeland of Pennsylvania, I discovered a gluten free bakery called Gluuteny in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The other day I was going through some pictures and found these, which made me salivate, just remembering the taste of that cherry turnover.
I stopped by to pick up some hamburger buns, on the way to a barbecue, but I was tempted by some of their other treats, too. The hamburger buns were fantastic. We toasted them on the grill with the burgers, too. The people there were super friendly, and they had a terrific selection. The place is all GF and CF (and all delicious), so you need not fear any cross-contamination. The other things I got while I was there: a sugar cookie decorated as a dinosaur and a gob/whoopie pie. YUM.
Now before you all jump in your cars and drive the 4 hours from DC to Pittsburgh (although that might not be a bad idea!), I was checking out their site, and they mail out a lot of their products from their online store, including their baking mixes and croutons.

Yes! Great place, I was just there yesterday. Their buckwheat bread is amazing, very moist. I like it better than their white bread, and I generally hate buckwheat. I was disappointed, though, that they didn’t have any sugar-free desserts. Or is that typical of gluten-free things, they still have to have sugar?
