Ladies and gentlemen, the baseball season is upon us! The Nationals have a new stadium, and in all the chaos of opening night, somehow this piece of information managed to slide past the watchful eye of the Gluties. Apparently, you can purchase a gluten free soft pretzel! I know, right? I’m drooling, too! The Washington Post reported the details today in their review of some of the “healthier” options at the park. The pretzels were rated a “Hit” not an “Error”–
HIT
Gluten-free pretzel $6
Noah’s Pretzels
Section 105These are named for the owner’s autistic son, and a percentage of the proceeds goes to fight autism. Toward that end, gluten-free, casein-free pretzels are sold. (Gluten may increase the severity of autism.) This is the go-to food for anyone with food allergies since the pretzel is made in a facility free from wheat, dairy, fish, shellfish, egg, soy, sesame, peanuts or tree nuts. It was a bit taste-free, too, however.
For lists of the other vendors at the stadium, check here. I’ll be there on Monday to see the Nats go up against the Marlins, so I’ll be back to review the pretzels myself and rule on that “taste-free” comment above! I’ll probably have a Hard Times Frito Chili Pie with it, too. All their chilis except their vegetarian are gluten free, and Fritos are safe, too!
If you want to check out the stadium without seeing a game, there will be an Open House this weekend, and the vendors’ stands will be open for business. For the details and for your free ticket, check the Nationals’ website!

Oh my god!! I could just kick myself! One of my friends wanted me to go the the opener with her, but I decided why bother with the prices and the crowds if I have nothing decent to snack on (seriously, my stomach tends to make the decisions in my life about 99% of the time).
Thanks so much for passing on the GF pretzel info!
We’ve got a 20-game partial season ticket package, went to the exhibition game and the opener. I had one of the NOAH’s GF pretzels, it didn’t have any salt, was kinda dry/cold, but it was better with mustard. I’m going to try them again Thursday night, hopefully they’ll be better. As I get some game eating experience I’ll try to report back here.
Very cool! I might just buy some of these pretzels even though I’m not a glutie! It costs so much to eat something at a ball game these days, it would be nice to know the money is going to a good cause. I hope the pretzels help to fight autism!
Barry, I had the same experience! No salt? I looked around the other stands to try to find some, but found nothing. Mustard definitely helped, but it wasn’t very good mustard either. Honestly, I will probably bring in a little sea salt and maybe some French’s Brown Mustard for them when I go to see them play my Pittsburgh Pirates in May!
Also, jabernethy, Nationals Ballpark lets you bring in your own food!
