The gluties have just been informed that today, February 28, is National Chili Day. While that might not mean much to you, it might as well be my birthday. Chili is one of my only true life loves. Chili dogs, chili fries, chili with cheese and onions … but nothing beats Hard Times Chili Nachos, terlingua red, extra cheese. Most chili is not safe – most restaurants and manufacturers add wheat gluten to thicken their product, rather than letting it simmer all day on the stove (like you would at home). But good news for us DC-metro folks, Hard Times chili is safe, and if you call to talk about it, the staff is pretty well informed. Unfortunately, if you’re a gluten free vegetarian, you have to stay away from the fake meat **read, vegetarian Hard Times chili is not gluten free.**
So, more good news. In honor of National Chili Day, Hard Times is giving away free bowls of chili. Yes, that’s right, FREE bowls of the best chili in the mid-Atlantic (according to WTOP).
Now, go get some. Don’t waste any more time. And, if you’re really hungry, try the wings. They’re safe too. And they rock.
