Restaurant Week in DC is the best time to try new food and new restaurants, but it can be the worst time for a GF gal. Most of the items on a limited menu are the cheapest they have to offer, which means the ingredients are wheat, wheat, and more wheat! At Zaytinya, that was not the case. The Mediterranean cuisine naturally lends itself to gluten free dining, but to improve on the situation, the restaurant has a special, gluten free menu. I was able to compare this menu to the specials and choose a fantastic, gluten free meal. From the hommus (with a fork), the shrimp, chicken and mahanek, to the AMAZING yogurt and black cherry dessert, the meal was heavenly. The Greek red was a perfect accompaniment.
I may still be drooling. And the waiter never even gave me a cross-eyed stare. I’ll certainly be back for more!

Great review Brandi! Brooke and I sat out Restaurant Week this time around and are opting for a big night out at Tallula instead.
